Yovani Gallardo didn't allow a hit until the 8th inning as the Simi Valley
Vikings outscored the SoCal Wildfires 2 to 0.
Gallardo(1-0) dominated SoCal hitters. He gave up just 1 hit and 4 walks in 8
innings. Gallardo mowed down 9 SoCal batters seeing his ERA drop from 5.25
to 3.15. The right-handed Gallardo lost his chance for a no-hitter when
Ramon Santiago singled with one out in the 8th inning. SoCal was out-hit by
Simi Valley, 6 hits to 2.
Gallardo got help from Fernando Salas who was credited with his 3rd save.
James Shields(1-1) took the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk in 6 and2/3 innings.
