Matt Cain was an iron man today while earning his 3rd win. |
Simi's Clayton Kershaw was good striking out 10 in 8 IP. However, Cain was better striking out 12 in 11 IP! Vikings crack under pressure and walk 3 in the 12th; Fall to 8-5. SoCal improves to 11-5. |

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. SoCal won the game in the 12th inning. Edwin Encarnacion laced a one-base hit. Ramon Santiago stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. B.J. Upton then drew a walk. Dan Uggla was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Matt Holliday stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Napoli extended the rally and drew a walk. SoCal finished with 10 hits in the victory. The victory went to Cain(3-2) who went 11 innings, allowing 3 runs. Joel Peralta preserved the game for Cain, recording his his 1st. Steve Cishek(1-1) suffered the loss in relief. Cain didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had 12 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
